At Homeshare Scotland we ensure that there is full transparency when it comes to undertsanding any fees or associated costs with homesharing.
Throughtout the onboarding and matching phase any costs will be highlighted depending on the bespoke nature of each sharing situation.
For guidence, here are the fees for each party.
The monthly fees includes the initial onboarding to the scheme and a creation of your potential match profile. Following the appropriate background checks, we work with you to discuss your needs and expectations to make sure that Homeshare Scotland is the right fit for you and that we can offer potential matches that will suit.
We will facilitate the progression of the match process including calls and meetings with relevant extended family and with the homeowner and sharer themselves.
The trial week is also included in this fee where we work with you to ensure that both parties feel safe and secure in their decision and are looking forward to the future as homesharing companions.
Once your trial has been completed, our team have a process of checkins and support processes to ensure that both parties are supported on an ongoing basis. This support is beneficial should any challenges or questions arise between both parties.
Your monthly fee also gives you access to the Homeshare Scotland Community. This provides support and advice from money saving to ensuring that you have access to any benefits or grants you may be entitled to. We arrange periodic meet-ups which allow you to meet with other like-minded homeshare companions. There is also a database of trusted and approved tradespeople should you require any work or maintenance to your home.
The Homeowner is expected to continue to pay for household bills, however this will be discussed during the match phase on a case by case basis. Typically there is a contribution by the Sharer for monthly bills which can be around £50-60. Again, this will be confirmed during the match phase.
If there is a requirement for the sharer to have internet access which does not already exist, the sharer will pay for this.
Sharers should expect to contribute towards food bills if it is agreed that both parties will dine together.
If the homeowner would like the sharer to drive them to appointments it is the responsibility of the homeowner to pay for insurance and petrol. If the sharer borrows the vehicle for personal use then petrol contributions will be required.
